ELA TECHNOLOGY STANDARDS

One standard 5th grade teachers use for ELA is LAFS.5.RL.3.7. which is the question of "how do visuals and multimedia elements contribute to a text?". Authors, teachers, lessons, and other creators use visuals and multimedia to integrate a different understanding of the tone, meaning, or beauty of a text. For instance, eBooks are a huge resource available to help children see pictures of the text they are reading about. By being able to have a deeper understanding by using visualizations, comprehension becomes more evident. I feel extremely prepared to implement this standard into my classroom, as I already use and provide eBooks to my students. There are great resources like Epic Books, which is an online eBook website for schools. Students get excited to read and listen to stories when they can see what we are discussing for themselves.
CPALMS RESOURCES

CPALMS provides wonderful resources for teachers to use. As a 5th grade teacher, we have to implement meaning and what causes something to happen. CPALMS provides and ELA resource called "What's the Meaning?". To make this more exciting for the students, there is a detective who is helping us solve the mystery of why something is the way it is and the clues to help us find the answers. The detective helps us review vocabulary words and practice with fun activities I would implement into my classroom by creating a group discussing and presentation of the video. I would have students come to the board to insert their answers, allowing students to show what they know and get extra practice. This could also be implemented into a computer station during rotations. This is a very helpful resource.

INTERNET SEARCHING

Internet searching is a must. To be a proficient searcher as a teacher, your resources are limitless and you can make learning so much more fun by using online resources to display on your interactive board, student computers, or print off fun work sheets or classroom posters. I will definitely be implementing the CPALMS resource much more, especially for ELA, because of how many plans they have listed for teachers and students to use on a boatload of topics. As well as the Google advanced search which I had never used before, I will definitely use that when looking for specific items, answers, or lesson plan ideas.
